The Opal Story
The base is a soft, hazy grey-blue, like the sky just before a storm rolls in. And then the fire ignites. Vivid electric blue dominates the upper half, bright and almost neon in the right light. Below that, a burst of orange, red and green flares up in a tight, concentrated cluster, warm and wild against all that cool blue. The contrast is sharp and unexpected. Cool and hot, sitting right next to each other, fighting for attention and both winning.
The shape is a freeform triangle, wider at the base and tapering to a soft point at the top, with gently curved edges that give it an organic, natural feel. It is the kind of shape that looks deliberate without being rigid.
This stone is small enough for an everyday piece but vivid enough to be noticed every single time.
Design Possibilities
The triangular shape and compact size make this a natural for a ring. Set low in a simple bezel on a clean band, it would sit beautifully on the finger without feeling bulky. The kind of ring you never take off.
Sterling silver is the obvious choice here. That cool grey blue base reads beautifully against bright silver and the electric blue fire would pop against it. But if you wanted to lean into the warmth of those orange and red flashes, rose gold would do something extraordinary with this stone.
What's Included
This opal comes finished as a hand fabricated bezel set ring or pendant in sterling silver. The bezel is hand filed to follow the exact curves of this stone, wrapping it securely while keeping the full face of that extraordinary colour completely visible. Every piece is polished to a high shine finish before it leaves the bench.
