The Opal Story

This is a pipe boulder opal from Queensland and it's one of the more unusual formations you'll come across.

Pipe opals form when silica-rich water seeps into cylindrical cavities left behind by ancient plant roots or organic matter buried in ironstone. Over millions of years, the silica hardens inside those tubes, creating opal in rounded, organic pipe shapes.
Tilt it one way and you get a rolling wash of red and orange fire. Tilt it again and green and gold take over.

Bold, vivid, and impossible to ignore.

Design Possibilities

The elongated teardrop shape makes this a natural for a statement ring, something that sits long on the finger and catches the light every time you move. It would also work beautifully as a pendant, worn close to the skin where the colour shifts with you throughout the day.

Either way, this is a piece you reach for when you want to feel like yourself, turned up a notch.

What's Included

This opal comes finished as a hand fabricated bezel set ring or pendant in sterling silver. The bezel is hand filed to follow the exact curves of this stone, wrapping it securely while keeping the full face of the opal visible. Every piece is polished to a high shine finish before it leaves the bench.
