The Opal Story

The base is a deep, moody blue grey, the colour of the sky just before a storm rolls in off the coast. Cool, atmospheric and vast. Across that ground, electric blue fires in concentrated patches and pools, vivid and saturated, the kind of blue that stops you mid sentence. Teal and green shimmer through in quieter moments, shifting as the stone tilts.

The shape is a generous teardrop, wider at the base and coming to a soft point. It has real size and presence in the hand.

As a ring, it sits beautifully lengthways along the finger, elongating the hand and putting the full sweep of that blue and teal on display.

As a pendant, it is outstanding. The pointed tip draws the eye downward and the stone moves with you, catching light from every angle as it does.

The cool blue tones sit perfectly against sterling silver. If you wanted something warmer to contrast against that moody base, yellow gold would be striking.

The bezel is hand filed to follow the exact curves of this stone, wrapping it securely while keeping the full face of that extraordinary colour completely visible. Every piece is polished to a high shine finish before it leaves the bench.
