The Opal Story

This is a pipe crystal opal and the body of the stone is nearly transparent, pale and milky like morning light through frosted glass. But look closer and the whole interior is alive. Scattered islands of electric teal and cyan sit across the surface like pools of deep water. Vivid blue flashes appear and disappear as the stone moves. Warm orange and pink glow from somewhere inside the body, visible through the transparency of the stone itself, like embers seen through smoke. Green runs across the surface in thin, shifting veins.

The more you look at it, the more you find.

Design Possibilities

The wide rectangular shape and that misty, multi layered colour make this a natural for a statement ring. It sits with real presence on the finger without being aggressive about it. The transparency of the body means it catches light differently throughout the day, shifting from warm and amber toned in low light to electric and vivid in direct sun.

This is a piece for someone who appreciates the quiet kind of extraordinary. The kind that reveals itself slowly, to people who look closely.

This opal comes finished as a hand fabricated bezel set ring or pendant in sterling silver. The bezel is hand filed to follow the exact curves of this stone, wrapping it securely while keeping the full face of that layered, shifting colour visible. Every piece is polished to a high-shine finish before it leaves the bench.
